SUBJECT: ADJUSTING BALANCE
VALVES IN LINT CLEANER AND GIN
STAND LINT FLUES.


         WHEN YOU HAVE MORE THAN TWO LINT CLEANERS DISCHARGING INTO A
BATTERY CONDENSER, OR MORE THAN TWO GIN STANDS DISCHARGING INTO
A BATTERY LINT CLEANER, IT IS NECESSARY TO INSTALL BALANCE VALVES IN
THE DISCHARGE OF THE LINT CLEANERS, OR GIN STANDS.

         THIS IS BECAUSE THE LINT CLEANERS, AND GIN STANDS, THAT ARE
CLOSER TO THE BATTERY CONDENSER, OR BATTERY LINT CLEANER, PUT A
LOT MORE AIR INTO THE LINT FLUE THAN IS NECESSARY TO CARRY THE
COTTON.

         THE LAST, OR END LINT CLEANER, OR GIN STAND, THEN HAS BACK
PRESSURE, AND SPITS COTTON OUT AT THE BRUSH. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE
BRUSH TO WEAR OUT VERY FAST ON THIS LINT CLEANER, OR GIN STAND.

         THIS END LINT CLEANER ALSO CHOKES UP QUITE OFTEN BECAUSE
THERE IS NOT ENOUGH AIR AT THE DISCHARGE OF THE BRUSH TO MOVE THE
COTTON AWAY FROM THIS LINT CLEANER PROPERLY.

         YOU CANNOT PUT A BIG ENOUGH FAN ON THE BATTERY CONDENSER, OR
BATTERY LINT CLEANER TO OVER COME THIS CONDITION.

         YOU NEED TO PUT BALANCE VALVES IN THE DISCHARGE OF THE LINT
CLEANER AND GIN STAND DISCHARGE FLUES. THE END LINT CLEANER, OR
END GIN STAND, DOES NOT NEED A BALANCE VALVE.

         YOU NEED A O" TO 1" WATER COLUMN MAGNEHELIC GAGE TO ADJUST
THE BALANCE VALVES.

         DRILL A SMALL HOLE, ABOUT 1/8" DIA. ABOVE THE BALANCE VALVES.  THIS
HOLE SHOULD BE AS CLOSE TO THE BRUSH AS POSSIBLE.  IT SHOULD BE NOT
MORE THAN ONE OR TWO INCHES, FROM THE LINT CLEANER OR GIN STAND
FRAME.   

         USING THE MAGNEHELIC GAGE, AND NOT GINNING COTTON, ADJUST THE
BALANCE VALVES UNTIL THE AIR VACUUM IS THE SAME IN ALL OF THE
DISCHARGE FLUES.
